Pupils taking automatic driving courses generally pass their test with around five hours less tuition than those taking a manual course. However, automatic lessons cost more money, so don't offer any realistic savings. Automatic cars are also more expensive to buy and maintain; meaning that choosing to drive an automatic car can be hundreds or even thousands of pounds more expensive than a manual.
